I know I went wild when I got away from the cult's influence. I enrolled in college and earned a degree, I registered to vote and actually (gasp) exercised my right to vote, I attended an occasional church service, I volunteered for a variety of community projects, I stopped looking at people walking down the street as being bird food...the list goes on and on.

overcompensating when leaving JWs?
by B_Deserter inever notice this phenomenon?
seems like a lot of people that leave in their early 20s tend to become wild party animals as soon as they leave da troof, getting tattoos, piercings and the like and going almost overboard with it.
anyone ever experience this?

cleaning house
by purplesofa inwhat do you do to get yourself motivated to clean your house.. do you go through spells where you are just not interested in housekeeping?.
i am going through a phase(which now seems to be seroius) of just doing the least amount possible.
same with my yard.. i kept thinking something would spark me, but its just not coming to me.. i would almost rather move than do anything!!!!!!.

start living like some old eccentric seahag
Thats what I thought when I read your post. Have you started taking in cats? If not there is hope. If you have, you are doomed to the life of a seahag. Sweet dreams...

it's the type of highly-desirable family home that is well beyond the reach of many middle-class professionals.

you don't automatically pay 40% tax, its only people who are in a high wage bracket who will be paying that.
Paying 40% in taxes is not just for those in high tax brackets. My last paycheck, I paid 32% in tax - federal and state income tax, social security, and medicare. Add in property taxes, various government "fees" which are taxes, and consumption taxes (sales, fuel, telephone, etc), a single, childless person paying 40% tax is not far fetched.
The biggest problem I have with stories like this one is it is an extreme example. Next week another story could run about a family of 14 that starved to death because the same government agency failed them completely. Either story would cause citizens to shake there head and say, "That's not what we are paying for."

Hey
Im a single, working guy with no kids. What do you think I can get for that
CONGRATS!!! You get to pay 40% tax! And on behalf of society I want to say "Thank you." Now, get back to work.
Littledream (if I remember correctly) is correct. In an entitlement society, aid goes to those who qualify for the benefit, not who deserve the benefit. Looking at a different government benefit (USA), I have friends who farm for a living. They recieve government subsidies for farming. David Letterman, who doesn't farm for a living, also recieves farm subsidies because he happens to own a farm. Does he deserve government assistance? Doesn't matter. He qualifies for the program.
Million dollar home or not, I can't imagine living with a wife and 12 kids. I'd rather be single, childless, and paying 40% in taxes.

Well I'll go have an Anchor burger and tell you all about it.
A friend of mine has a Hobie and took me for a ride. Wicked fast. Those cats can fly! I'd like to buy another boat myself most likely a fishing/speed boat. But I don't have room to store any more toys.

I haven't heard from scooter in quite a while. I'd run into her at biker stuff on occasion but I think the last time I saw her was when I ran into her at the Anchor months ago. I'm gonna call her up and see what she's been doing with herself.

I'm not a native Duluthian. I did go to the Duluth hall once and that was the last time I set foot in a hall other than for a couple of weddings and funera...memorial services. So I don't know any of the local dubs. I do know scootergirl though. I really like this area. Lots to do if a person enjoys the outdoors. Your photo of the Apostles reminded me that I really need to get to Bayfield. It's been a while.
